Furlough Travel Forms

Important Notes About Departure and Arrival Times and Fees

MMA sets furlough leave and return days/times in accordance with our academic calendar in order to best serve cadet learning. Early departures and/or late returns affect your cadet's class time, often interrupting key testing (final exams), and require additional MMA resources from the academic and commandant offices in order to accommodate his individual departure and/or return and to make up missed work and tests. For this reason, early departure and late arrival fees are assessed to his account when appropriate (excluding excused absences). Excused absences include family bereavement and medical appointments, but proof of appointment is required. The commandant will review requests for excused absences.

Families who are picking up their cadet from MMA campus must plan to pick their cadet up after classes on the first day of furlough. If picked up earlier, an early departure fee of $300 will be assessed to his account.

Families who are dropping off their cadet at MMA campus must plan to drop him off no later than 10:00 p.m. on the last day of furlough. If returned later, a late arrival fee of $300 will be assessed to his account.

Cadets who are flying or using chaperoned transportation must schedule flights no earlier than 12:00 noon the following day, as MMA buses will not be leaving campus until 7:00 a.m. that morning. Returning flights to MMA must be scheduled to arrive at the airport no later than 4:00 p.m.

Families who are picking up their cadet from St. Louis at the beginning of furlough should expect to meet their cadet at the Missouri Vineyard Restaurant in the St. Louis International Airport. This restaurant is located inside terminal one, pre-security, near exit 6.

Cadets who will be dropped off in St. Louis or who are flying into St. Louis Lambert International Airport to return to MMA at the end of their furlough should wait for the bus at the Missouri Vineyard Restaurant in the airport until faculty chaperones escort them to the bus. Buses will leave the airport to return to MMA at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Notes About Cadet Uniform

Cadets should be wearing their travel uniforms on the day they leave MMA campus, as well as return.  Their travel uniform includes a MMA polo shirt, khaki trousers, a standard brown leather belt and approved brown travel shoes. Cadets may also wear their MMA letterman jackets.

MMA chaperones will be wearing a MMA polo shirt so cadets can identify them.

Notes About Travel Options

Families may schedule flights through the following Missouri airports:

Families may not use a private transportation service to get their cadet home. This includes Uber, Lyft, taxi, limousine or any other private transportation service.
