Fall Family Weekend 2019


Friday, October 18

Parents are invited to attend each class. Teachers will have copies of their syllabus for visitors.

1st Period class in Barnard Hall
8:05 a.m. to 8:50 a.m.    

2nd Period class in Barnard Hall
8:55 a.m. to 9:40 a.m.

Seminar in Barnard Hall
9:45 a.m. to 10:05 a.m. Will be held in 4th period classrooms.
Cadets meet for 40-minute Seminar four times per week.  During this time they do Silent Sustained Reading (SSR) as part of reading and writing across the curriculum. Cadets also have the opportunity to complete missing assignments, ACT/SAT preparation, and college and career guidance interviews.

3rd Period class in Barnard Hall
10:10 a.m. to 10:55 a.m.

4th Period class in Barnard Hall
11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.    

Cadet/Parent Lunch in Dining Hall
11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Parent-Teacher Conferences in Barnard Hall* 
12:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. 
Parent-teacher conference times will be posted for sign-up two weeks prior to Fall Family Weekend. You can schedule your cadet's conference time online here. Please see below for scheduling instructions. 

Parents Committee meeting in Dining Hall
1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
All parents are invited to attend to learn about the Parents Committee plans for upcoming events and how to get involved. At 1:30 p.m., President Geraci will briefly address the group. The Executive Director of the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce Dana Keller will also attend, so you may learn more about the city of Mexico. If you have parent-teacher conferences during this hour, please drop in as you are able.

Football vs. St. Paul Lutheran at MMA Football Field  (Senior Night)
7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.     
Seniors and their parents/guardians will be recognized at halftime. Mandatory attendance for all corps because the beginning of halftime is Senior Night. Cadets may check out with their parent or guardian after halftime (at the start of the third quarter) but must return by 10:00 p.m.  No overnights.


Saturday, October 19

Uniform is parade uniform (white pants) after breakfast through review. Cadets will wear winter garrison uniforms following the review until the dance. Uniform for the Senior Ring Dinner & Dance and sign out is full dress uniform (gray pants).

Admissions Open House in Barnard Hall 
9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Passing Through Ceremony on Front Campus
10:00 a.m. 
Parents of new cadets invited to present hat brass to them.

Review and Senior Ring Presentation on Colonels Field
10:45 a.m. 
All corps required to attend. 

Parents Convocation in Memorial Chapel
11:45 a.m.
Featured speakers will be David and Alice Dawson, parents of Cadet Max Dawson.

Following convocation, cadets may check out with parents and guardians. Overnights approved for cadets not attending the Ring Dance. Cadets attending the dance (seniors are required to attend) must report back by 5:00 p.m. Those attending the dance may check out for overnight at the conclusion of the dance.

Optional Cadet/Parent Lunch in Dining Hall 
12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. 

Senior Ring Dinner & Dance in Gymtorium
6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. 
The Senior Ring Dinner & Dance will include a formal dinner, dance and more. Reception line with President and Mrs. Geraci will begin at 6 p.m. Formal dress required. All cadets and their families are invited; seniors are required to attend. This event is sold-out.


Sunday, October 20

All cadets required back on campus
5:00 p.m.
Cadets should return to campus in winter garrison uniform.

Vespers in Memorial Chapel
6:30 p.m.

Cadet Checkout Times
Cadets are required to attend the Fall Family Weekend activities. Events are for our entire campus community and require the participation of all cadets. Please help us maintain a team attitude by understanding that open weekends will not be granted during Fall Family Weekend.

If you attend Fall Family Weekend, cadets in good standing may sign out with their parents or guardians after the halftime of the Colonels football game on Friday (roughly 8:00 p.m.) and must return by 10:00 p.m. (no overnights).

On Saturday, cadets in good standing may sign out with their parents and guardians after convocation. Overnights are approved for cadets not attending the Senior Ring Dinner & Dance. Cadets attending the dance must report back by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Those attending the dance may check out for overnight at the conclusion of the dance at 10:00 p.m. All cadets are required back on campus at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Parent-Teacher Conference Scheduling Instructions

Parents can schedule their parent-teacher conference online here. See below for scheduling instructions: 

  • Step 1: Login. After you log in, you will see a screen to enter your cadet’s student ID and birthday.
  • Step 2: Review availability. At the next screen, you will find a color coded schedule to show the availability for each of your child's teachers and academic advisor. If you have more than one cadet enrolled, please add the additional boy's information on this screen to see all availability, for ease of scheduling.
  • Step 3: Schedule appointment. Click a box to reserve an appointment on a teacher's schedule. Click "Create Appointment" to finalize your conference schedule.
  • Step 4: Set reminder. The next screen enables you to set up appointment reminders. If you would like to be sent a reminder, click the box “I would like a reminder emailed to me prior to my appointment.” You will have to select the number of days you would like this reminder sent prior to your appointment. You will also have the option to add this appointment to your calendar.
