MMA Colonels Wrestling Competes at Owensville Invitational, 14 January 2023
The Missouri Military Academy Colonels wrestling team traveled to Owensville on Saturday, Jan. 14 for the annual Owensville Invitational. Competing teams included MMA, Owensville, Sullivan, Blair Oaks, Dexter, Fatima, Park Hills Central, School of the Osage and St. Francis Borgia. No team scores were kept during this nine-team tournament.
Six cadet-athletes made it to the medal round.
The results are as follows:
- 106 pounds, Cadet Mathew Pfiefer placed third
- 113 pounds, Cadet Caleb Xamis placed sixth
- 120 pounds, Cadet Dallas Grantz placed fifth
- 126 pounds, Cadet Samuel Stevens placed third
- 132 pounds, Cadet Ryan Miles placed sixth
- 138 pounds, Cadet Alex Snyder placed sixth
- 144 pounds, Cadet Bryson Powell placed third
- 157 pounds, Cadet Brett Miles placed third
- 165 pounds, Cadet Gabe Canonico placed second
- 165 pounds, Cadet Blake Krull placed fourth
- 175 pounds, Cadet Evan Corley placed seventh
- 285 pounds, Cadet Ben Huynh placed eighth
MMA was open at 150, 190 and 215.
Next, the Colonels will compete at a triple-meet at North Callaway with California on Thursday, Jan 19 and at the varsity donference tournament in Lone Jack on Saturday, Jan. 21.
