Rifle tryouts are held during each fall semester and begin upon completion of the Marksmanship Safety Exam and a two-week training period. Team members are selected based on the results of the week-long tryout and assigned a lane on the range in accordance with the results of the tryouts. All cadets are encouraged to try out, and the top 12 to 16 cadets will ultimately be selected. Rifle team selections are announced to the corps during lunch on the Friday following tryouts.
