MMA Welcomes 1SG William Ramos as Deputy Commandant for Transportation, Security and Support

Missouri Military Academy announces the appointment of 1SG William Ramos, USA (Ret) as deputy commandant for transportation, security and support. Ramos also serves as an Army Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AJROTC) instructor and Fusileers AJROTC drill team coach, bringing more than 25 years of distinguished United States Army service to the Academy.

"1SG Ramos is a great addition to the MMA leadership team, commandant's staff and Army JROTC department," says MMA President Brigadier General Richard V. Geraci, USA (Ret). "His diverse expertise and experience, along with his demonstrated leadership and teaching skills, make him an exceptional role model for our cadets and employees."

In his deputy commandant role, Ramos oversees cadet safety, transportation operations, fleet accountability and campus security. His leadership ensures that systems supporting cadet life operate with precision, discipline and accountability. He also works directly with cadets in the AJROTC program and through Fusileers, mentoring young men in leadership, drill and ceremonial excellence.

“Families entrust us with their sons, and that is a responsibility I take personally,” Ramos says. “My goal is to provide a safe, structured environment where cadets are challenged to grow, guided to lead and prepared to succeed in college and beyond.”

During his Army career, Ramos served in senior leadership positions including Senior Maintenance and Operations Supervisor, Senior Aviation Operations Supervisor and Company First Sergeant. He also held key additional duties as a SHARP (Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention) Victim Advocate, Equal Opportunity Advisor and supported Criminal Investigation Division operations.

He deployed in support of combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. His military honors include two Meritorious Service Medals, seven Army Commendation Medals, two Afghanistan Campaign Medals, two Iraq Campaign Medals and the Combat Action Badge, along with multiple additional awards recognizing sustained excellence throughout his career.

Ramos holds an associate degree in Business Management and is currently completing a Bachelor of Science in Military Studies at Columbia Southern University, with an anticipated graduation date of June 2026.

As a father, mentor and educator, Ramos says he is committed to developing disciplined, ethical leaders through structured mentorship, accountability and high expectations, values that align closely with Missouri Military Academy’s mission and 360° Education model.
