MMA Welcomes New Chief Financial Officer

Jennifer Yelton has joined the staff of Missouri Military Academy as the chief financial officer. Yelton comes to the private, college preparatory, all-boys military boarding school from Westminster College in Fulton, where she has served as associate vice president for business and controller since 2017.

As part of the leadership team, Yelton will work with the Academy’s president, Brigadier General Richard V. Geraci, USA (Ret), to oversee MMA's business operations and finances. Her responsibilities include all aspects of daily business operations, maintaining accurate accounting records and reporting financial results, producing the annual budget, cash flow management and analysis, audits, internal controls, financial analysis and forecasting, and planning resources in support of the strategic plan.

A 2006 graduate of William Woods University with a degree in accounting, Yelton brings a wealth of financial experience to this executive role. She spent nine years in accounting for the city of Columbia, Missouri, and then moved to Westminster as budget director before assuming her most recent position there. During her tenure at Westminster, she managed annual audits of the college’s financial statements, supervised the accounting of the endowment portfolio, and implemented key internal controls to build a strong foundation of best practices for the institution and its constituents. She begins work at MMA on March 25.

“Jennifer is an outstanding addition to the Missouri Military Academy leadership team,” says President Geraci. “Her proven record of success in positions of significant financial responsibility is a welcomed addition to the Academy. I am excited to begin working with her.”

“I am proud to be a part of a school that puts so much value in academic excellence, respect, integrity and accountability,” Yelton says. “MMA is a life-changing and rewarding experience for cadets and I am grateful to be a part of it.”

An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, Yelton enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, especially camping, fishing, Scouting events and baseball games. Go-karts and dirt-track racing are the family’s favorite pastimes.
