Missouri Military Academy Places Third in Missouri State Raiders Championship

Missouri Military Academy (MMA) hosted the Missouri State Raiders Championship on Saturday, October 24, 2020. A precursor to the ROTC collegiate level Ranger Competition, Raiders is a military-style competition conducted with an 8-man team. The one-day event includes a 5K road march, Raider Challenge Course, Physical Team Test (PTT), and Gauntlet Course, one-rope bridge and obstacle course.

A total of 12 high schools, fielding 22 teams, from Missouri, Iowa and Kansas participated in the competition, including the following:

  • Blue Springs South High School, MO, 3 teams
  • Boonslick High School (BTEC), MO, 1 team
  • Fredericktown High School, MO, 1 team
  • Knob Noster High School, MO, 2 teams
  • Leavenworth High School, KS, 4 teams (including last year’s Raider Nationals Champions in the Mixed & Female division)
  • Lee’s Summit North High School, MO, 1 team
  • Missouri Military Academy, MO, 2 teams
  • Moberly High School, MO, 2 teams
  • Nixa High School, MO, 1 team
  • Ottumwa High School, IA, 1 team
  • Ozark High School, MO, 3 teams
  • Scott Reginal Tech Center (SRTC), MO, 1 team

MMA’s Colonels Raiders team A took third place overall in the championship, finishing behind continual national champion contending teams from Leavenworth and Ozark High School. The Colonels also took 2nd overall in the 5K to be the state runners-up in the 5K.

Missouri Military Academy COL Tom Pickle

Colonel Tom Pickle, USA (Ret), has joined the staff of Missouri Military Academy (MMA) as the deputy commandant for residential life. Pickle comes to the private, college preparatory, all-boys military boarding school after a 32-year career in the United States Army. Throughout his career, he has exhibited exceptional leadership, planning, program management, and talent management, making significant contributions to the military.

MMA Future Business Leaders Attend 2024 State Conference

Competitors from the Missouri Military Academy Future Business Leaders of America chapter joined attendees from nearly 400 chapters at the Missouri State Leadership Conference on April 14-16, 2024, in Springfield. Eleven MMA cadets qualified to compete at state during the district competition held in February. The MMA Color Guard presented the colors in front of more than 5,000 high school students at Great Southern Bank Arena.
