Thanks to a scholarship courtesy of Chris Schafer ’89 – a Missouri Military Academy alum and graduate of the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) – and his wife Jeni, selected freshmen, sophomores, and juniors cadets interested in the STEM field will have the opportunity to attend the Jackling Introduction to Engineering Virtual Camp for free.
Through the Jackling Introduction to Engineering Virtual Camp, cadets will be introduced to a variety of engineering fields with virtual demonstrations and activities related to each discipline. Activities will include interactive workshops and problems such as software development, aerospace testing and problem-solving, exploration of state-of-the-art engineering materials breakthroughs, and the process of product development and testing. The camp will take place June 21 - 23, 2021.
Two cadets will be selected for Schafer’s scholarship. Cadets interested in applying for Schafer’s scholarship should see Maj. Mike Pemberton, science department chair, in Barnard Hall room 106 for an application. They can also email him at email@example.com.
To be eligible, cadets must ...
- be in good standing at MMA
- be in grades 9-11
- complete and submit the MMA application form (due Feb. 28)
- submit a typed essay (250-500 words) describing interest in science, math, engineering and/or medicine and a desire to attend the camp.
Cumulative GPA will also be considered with the application.
