Three Missouri Military Academy cadets have earned post-season honors from the Missouri State High School Soccer Coaches Association for their play in the 2021 season.
The coaches named forward Michael Wever, a senior from O’Fallon, Missouri, to the All-Region team. “Michael has been a key player for us in the 2021 season,” says MMA head varsity soccer coach Elliot Goodwin. “His energy and passion for the game is infectious and he certainly deserves a lot of recognition and credit for his work on the field. He has been able to score some very important goals for us throughout the year, and has led the line exceptionally well as our main forward.”
Wever earlier made the All-District team, along with senior William Cash of Indianapolis, Indiana, and junior Marco Afane of La Libertad, El Salvador.
“When the news was released that William, Marco and Michael had been selected as All-District players for the 2021 season, I was extremely pleased for them,” says Goodwin. “Each shows excellence when wearing the MMA jersey and it’s been a pleasure to have them on the team this year. These awards show that these players give everything for their teammates and our school.”
Goodwin gives credit to the entire Colonels roster and MMA community. “It would not have been possible for these cadets to gain this recognition without the help of their teammates,” he says, “and everyone involved with this team deserves the same amount of credit. We’ve certainly had our fair share of ups and downs this past year but I love seeing the boys with a smile on their face, and I will always have their backs as we go to battle against other schools. In the coming years I hope we gain more selections for All-District player and that we always represent MMA in the highest regard.”
