MMA Football Players Receive All-District Honors for 2018 Season

MFCA Class 2, District 6 First Team

Sky Thunderchild Henio, Offensive Line

Senior Sky Henio makes an appearance on the first team for the second consecutive year. He led the team in snap played and served as captain. A four-year player, and three-year starter, he has multiple offers to play college football.

“Sky is the heart and soul of MMA Football. His leadership will be missed next year, and we hope the younger players he’s mentored step up and follow his example of passion, sacrifice and character,” said MMA Coach Mitchell Jenkins.

Shama Lurie, Punter

A first-year player at MMA, Shama “Jake” Lurie averaged 42.5 net per punt this season. He also started on the offensive line and middle linebacker, showing he was a complete player.

“Jake is one of those players you wish you had longer, because he just kept getting better as the season went on,” said Jenkins.

MFCA Class 2, District 6 Second Team

Matt Thibodeaux, Running Back

Senior Matt Thibodeaux led the Colonels on offense with more than 500 yards rushing. In his three-year career, “Tibbs” nearly reached the 1000-yard mark, falling just shy with 938 in three seasons. The highlight of his senior season came during a 31-carry, 184-yard, two touchdown performance during homecoming.

“Matt is a very smart football player and really helped our offense. He knew the offense inside and out, and helped our younger players,” Jenkins said. “We hope that someone can fill those shoes in the future.”

Jaden Rogge, Defensive End

A junior defensive end, Jaden Rogge paced the defense with eight sacks and 11 tackles for loss. Rogge started on both sides of the ball, and the coaching staff is excited for his senior year.

“We are excited for Jaden’s future. He can be a game-changer on both sides of the ball during his last year,” said Jenkins.
