MMA Duels Second Half of Season

Missouri Military Academy’s (MMA) wrestling team has continued their winning streak following winter furlough, adding a 5-2 team duel record to their 9-1 previous record, making them 14-3 in duels for the season.

“Our only losses [after winter furlough] have both come at the hands of North Callaway, who are well-disciplined and strong wrestlers,” Wrestling Coach Thomas Allen said. “We gave them a good duel. I am proud of the grit cadets have demonstrated at every match – win or lose.”

Of MMA’s wins following winter furlough, they scored over St. Francis Borgia 52-24, California 36-21, Tipton 51-24, South Callaway 48-11, and Hallsville in a nail biter 36-34.

Next week, MMA has one tournament left before MSHSAA district competitions on February 13, which Coach Allen believes many MMA cadets will qualify for.

“We have a great chance to get several wrestlers through districts to the sectional tournament,” said Coach Allen. “I am not counting any of our cadets out – they work hard and wrestle tough.”
