MMA Cadets Honored with Academic Awards for 2020-21

Congratulations to the Missouri Military Academy cadets who received the following academic awards for the 2020-21 academic year. View and download photos here. 

Petit Fellowship Cup: Kruze Hagan 

Awarded for having the best fellowship ranking in middle school.  

Thomas Wittman Plaque: Colin Beck 

Given to the cadet who best lives his faith through his actions. 

Hal Heyman Memorial Award – All-American Boy Award: Dallas Grantz 

Awarded to the cadet who, in the opinion of the faculty, possesses those characteristics that promote American values. Given in memory of Cadet Harold David Heymann died at age 12 (1939-1952) in a car accident. 

Lyle C. Wilson Journalism Award: Francisco Jacquez 

Award honors the national columnist and former vice president of United Press International. 

Davison Broadcasting Award: Evan Schreyer 

Awarded to the cadet broadcaster who did the most to present the MMA story by audio or video communication. Given in honor of George Davison, Class of 1968, TV and radio broadcaster. 

William F. Enright, Jr., 1937, Memorial Award: Dylan Mugisha 

Awarded for proficiency in business and computer studies. Given in honor of William Enright, former Ameribanc chairman. 

Major William Bryan Essay Medal: Jared Douthit 

Awarded for excellence in writing. Given in memory of Maj. William L. Bryan, English faculty member. 

Senator Thomas F. Eagleton Plaque: Awarded for remarkable performance in English.

David Whitney, 1954, Conservation Plaque: Michael Henderson 

Awarded for appreciation of conservation and having the highest average in environmental science. The award is given in honor of David Whitney ‘54, a Pulitzer Prize-nominated writer. 

Senator John C. Danforth Plaque: Dhalil Belko 

Awarded for his outstanding knowledge and appreciation of constitutional government. 

The Paul Petit Award for the Best International Relations: Awarded to the cadets with the most improved international relations.

Highest Scholarship: Given to the cadet with the highest cumulative GPA for the academic year in his grade.

Richard White Library Ribbon: Awarded to a middle and high school cadet who is a frequent user of the library, returns books on time and in good condition, knows how to find and check out books, helps other cadets in the library, and who respects the rules of conduct for the library. Given in honor of alumnus Richard White ’47. Mr. White has donated over $250,000 in support of MMA, making improvements in Barnard Hall Library and the Bravo Barracks; provided funds for technology, entertainment, rec room activities and middle school programs, and more.

Awarded to a middle school cadet showing the greatest all-around improvement since his enrollment.

MMA Golf Goes to State

MMA’s golf team proved to be considerable competition this season, averaging second-place finishes in tournaments. Furthermore, Cadet Oscar Lopez qualified to compete at the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) State Golf Championship, where he finished 28th out of 74 golfers.

Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce Recognizes MMA as Small Business of the Quarter

The Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce has selected Missouri Military Academy (MMA) for its quarterly small business award. The Academy was selected for the hard work and leadership demonstrated through its uninterrupted operation for three consecutive semesters, as well as through summer camps in 2020, in the midst of the COVID pandemic.
