MMA Athletes Honored with Awards 

Congratulations to the MMA cadets who received the following athletic awards at the end of the 2020-21 academic year. Scroll down for a full list of honorees, including award descriptions. 

Red Ireland, Class of 1941, Trophy: Enrique Padron 

Award honors James “Red” Ireland Jr. from the Class of 1941. The award recognizes loyalty, courage and heart. 

Alexander Ebersole, Class of 2018, Selfless Service Award: Damien Brown 

Award is reserved for cadets who exhibit courage and grit in the face of overwhelming adversity. 

Bohm Award for Outstanding MMA Athlete: Christopher Bryant 

Given an outstanding high school athlete lettering in 3 varsity sports. The award honors Dr. Wilbur Harrison Smith Bohm, Class of 1912, osteopath and athletic trainer, 1890-1971, and member of the National Athletic Trainers Assoc Hall of Fame. 

Joe D. Bailey Award: Yu-Jen Tong 

Awarded for being the most dedicated varsity athlete. The award honors Joe Bailey, a former MMA faculty member, athletic director, dean, and coach. 

Major George L. Piper Outstanding Middle School Athlete: Avin Hernandez 

The award honors former instructor, athletic director and commandant, Maj. George Piper, and recognizes cadets' commitment and performance in athletics. 

Babe Ruth Sportsmanship Award: Presented to a cadet who has displayed good sportsmanship with no offense for which integrity or character was an issue.

Raider of the Year: Kevin Wang 

Given for demonstrating athletic discipline, dedication to physical fitness and leadership to participate as a Raider. 

Armed Regulation Commanders Award: Bryce Bowen 

Awarded to the senior who dedicated his time and talent to the Fusileer Drill Team through leadership and commitment.  His true dedication to encouraging his team to live up to the high standards of being a member of the Fusileers, contributed to the success of the team.  

Unarmed Regulation / Armed Exhibition Commander Award: Michael Machary-Pagan 

Awarded to the senior who dedicated his time and talent to the Fusileer Drill Team through leadership and commitment.  His true dedication to encouraging his team to live up to the high standards of being a member of the Fusileers, contributed to the success of the team.  

Color Guard Commander Award: Dhalil Belko 

Awarded to the senior who dedicated his time and talent to the MMA Color Guard through leadership and commitment.  His dedication to perfection was equally matched by his performance. 

Outstanding First-Year Fusileer: Michael Henderson 

Fusileer of the Year: Bryce Bowen 

Fuslieer Award: Yu-Jen Tong

At Missouri Military Academy (MMA), the approach to education extends far beyond traditional academics. Cadets are delving into a curriculum that covers a spectrum of practical life skills. From basic household tasks to financial literacy, the Life Skills class offers a comprehensive toolkit for navigating the complexities of adulthood. With the incorporation of guest speakers, the class adds depth and real-world insight to the cadets' learning experience.
