MMA’s Athletic Director Brian Meny Honored with 2024 KRES Legends Award

Missouri Military Academy’s Athletic Director Brian Meny, an esteemed figure in Missouri's basketball community, was honored with the 2024 KRES Legends Award during the KRES All-Star Basketball Banquet in Moberly, Missouri, on April 3. 

Meny's basketball coaching career spans over 26 years across four area basketball programs. His journey started in Monroe County, where he led the Madison girls' and boys' basketball teams for eight years. Transitioning to Van-Far High School, Meny coached the boys' basketball program for nine years. Then he brought his expertise to the Palmyra High School boys' basketball team for four years before leading the Battle High School boys’ program in Columbia for five years.

Throughout his coaching endeavors, Meny gained a record of 515 wins against 285 losses. His contributions to the sport were further acknowledged with his induction into the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) Hall of Fame in 2021. Meny also guided numerous sectional qualifier teams for Battle, Palmyra and Van-Far High Schools, reached the state quarterfinals with the girls' team at Madison and led Van-Far to a state championship victory. He has earned a total of 14 district Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) titles.

Throughout his career, Meny has garnered many accolades, including recognition as the MBCA Coach of the Year, Class 2 State Coach of the Year and KHQA/Tri-States Coach of the Year, among others. His commitment to the sport is further underscored by his longstanding service on the board of directors for the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association since 2013.
