Cadets Earn Lifeguard, First Aid Certification

After taking one of MMA’s newest classes, six cadets have earned their lifeguard certificate and are now certified in first aid, CPR and AED.

The class was an American Red Cross course designed to teach cadets water safety and rescue. Through traditional lecture and crucial hands-on training, cadets learned the basics of water safety, proper protocols to respond to water-related emergencies, correct water rescue techniques and how to deliver prompt care to people in need.

The following cadets completed the course:

  • Damian Brown
  • Jacob Schneider
  • Hamish Lindsey
  • Daniel Gallegos
  • Michael Naughton
  • Keegan Youngblood

Additionally, Samuel Felman, current lifeguard at MMA, helped guide the class. The course was taught by MMA Aquatics Coordinator Hannah Williams. Williams is a certified lifeguard trainer, licensed lifeguard, CPR, AED & First AID instructor, AAFA group fitness instructor, MSHSAA swim coach and licensed swim lesson instructor with over 5 years experience coaching swimming instruction.
