Introducing the MMA 2022-23 Parents Committee Leaders

Introducing our 2022-23 Parents Committee leaders!

The Missouri Military Academy Parents Committee is a group of cadet parents and family members assembled for the purpose of strengthening the bond between cadets, faculty, and staff all while enhancing the 360˙ Education each cadet experiences at MMA.

The committee strives to improve the quality of life for our cadets. Every current MMA family is automatically a member of the MMA Parents Committee. Parents with cadets enrolled for 2022-23 will be invited to a Zoom meeting in July to learn more.

Thank you to Michael and Shelley Garcia, Lynne Lowder and Sherry Meyer for helping to lead the committee this year! Scroll down to learn about each family.

Message from outgoing Parents Committee President Erin Schreyer:

MMA Family,

Oh, how I already miss you and our boys' beautiful home-away-from-home! MMA is such a special place, filled with wonderful families who care so deeply about their sons and the potential they can achieve. You’re about to embark on another year of growth that brings them closer to being young adult men of character, looking like an officer and conducting themselves as gentlemen.

While it can all sound so dreamy, we also recognize this road can be challenging. As boarding school parents, we've chosen a unique path. We miss our boys, and we are continually learning how to most effectively partner with MMA faculty, staff and other families to help everyone have the most successful year possible. The Parents Committee is a critical element, as the helpful guidance, positive communication and shared encouragement have a tremendous impact on the cadets, Academy and each other.

Although I will miss interacting daily with everyone, I’m so thrilled and confident in the abilities of the PC leaders who have stepped up to lead the charge this year! I know each one of these people personally, and they are going to make an incredible team together. Sherry is a seasoned MMA Mom and has served on the PC for years. Her creativity and commitment are superb! Michael and Shelly are fabulous communicators and motivators, and I know their dedication to personal success will benefit MMA in the best ways. Lynne’s confidence, professionalism and high standards will ensure the PC makes the most of every event and interaction. She’s also a Dallas neighbor and friend! Parents, you are in great hands and have so much to look forward to!

I hope to see you all again soon. In the meantime, I’ll continue to keep you, your sons and MMA in my prayers. May this be your best year yet!

Erin

Parents Committee President: Sherry Meyer

Cadet Landon Meyer will be a junior at MMA this fall.

Hello, MMA Family! My name is Sherry Meyer, and I am super excited to be your new Parents Committee Leader. My son Landon will be a junior this year and is a 5th year cadet in the MMA Corps. He is in Band Company and has been the “Lone Trombone” in the Academy & Jazz bands for the last couple of years. Landon is a member of the rifle team, football & baseball teams, Railsplitters and probably several other things that I cannot remember because he is his mother’s child and likes to be involved with everything! We are from Moberly, MO which is about 45 minutes northwest of Mexico.

I look forward to meeting everyone and doing my best to help you navigate MMA parent life. It's a challenge and often a bigger sacrifice than our boys understand, but as you will often hear the General say, “stay the course” ... Trust me when I say, it’s SO worth it!
