It’s that time of year again! Missouri Military Academy’s annual Homecoming/Alumni Weekend is fast approaching. Make plans to attend (click here to view the homecoming schedule and register) – and support the Academy by purchasing a raffle ticket for your chance to win one of four special MMA prizes.
Raffle tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100, and proceeds will be split 50/50 between the 1889 Scholarship and the Alumni Scholarship Fund. Tickets may be purchased at registration, the barbeque on Friday evening and at the Alumni Lunch on Saturday. The drawing will be held on Saturday night at the banquet, and you must be present to win.
MMA Clipboard – Hold a piece of MMA in your hands
The first offering is a one-of-a-kind clipboard crafted by the Academy’s Director for Facilities and Maintenance Bernie Strunk. This item is an example of fine craftsmanship using salvaged wood from campus, and it also includes a signed certificate of authenticity. Each clipboard is unique in design and composition, being crafted from woods that include fir, mahogany, hard maple, soft maple, red oak, white oak, white pine, poplar, redwood, and walnut that were all part of MMA at some time.
MMA Memory Shadow Box
The second item is a special shadow box containing the winning bidder’s name, rank, and all awards he earned as a cadet. Veterans commonly use shadow boxes to showcase their achievements and other significant items from their service, such as challenge coins, photographs, and awards. This item will immortalize the time spent, friendships fostered and memories made at the Academy. The box will measure 16”x20” and be painted black.
Cadet’s Prayer
The third item available in this year’s raffle is the Cadet Prayer, which has been engraved on a piece of slate. The Cadet Prayer is the final message given in the corps’ weekly Vespers, setting cadets up for success in the coming week. The engraving will be done by Jim Obenshain ‘86.
