Orlando Griego, Ph.D., Visits MMA for Academic Collaboration and Professional Development

Missouri Military Academy (MMA) welcomed Orlando Griego, chief academic officer and dean of academics at New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI), to campus on December 4, 2025, for a day of professional development, academic collaboration and faculty engagement.

During his visit, Griego met with MMA’s academic leadership team to learn more about the Academy’s block scheduling structure and explore how MMA's use of this scheduling model strengthens instructional time, cadet mastery of academic material and teacher effectiveness. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in social service from San Jose State University, a Master of Science in human resource management from Golden Gate University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in vocational education with a specialization in human resource development from Colorado State University.

He shared insight with MMA faculty and staff on how military schools can leverage artificial intelligence analysis as a force multiplier for data-driven decisions in curriculum design, assessment and cadet support.

Griego also met with cadets in MMA’s JROTC cyber program to discuss emerging technologies.

To recognize his contributions, MMA President Brigadier General Richard V. The Bravo Zulu award symbolizes the achievement of excellence and is one of the highest compliments paid in the U.S. Naval forces. The combination of the Bravo and Zulu nautical signal flags is a naval signal, typically conveyed by flag hoist or voice radio, meaning “Well Done” regarding actions, operations or performance.

MMA extends its appreciation to Griego for his partnership and for helping strengthen the Academy’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence, innovation and the development of future-ready leaders.
