The Missouri Military Academy (MMA) Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter assisted the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Columbia, Missouri, on November 2, 2024. Thirteen cadets, along with faculty member Melba Lackey and faculty member and FBLA advisor Peggy Reynard, volunteered their time, assisting with event logistics and presenting the colors.
The cadets were commended by Laurie Williams, senior fundraising manager for the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Missouri Chapter, who shared the following in a letter:
"I wanted to take a moment to extend my deepest thanks to the Missouri Military Academy cadets who volunteered at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Columbia. Their dedication and professionalism made a significant impact on the success of our event, and I want to ensure their hard work is recognized and celebrated.
The cadets were truly exceptional in every aspect of their involvement. They assisted with set-up and logistics, ensuring everything was organized and ready for a smooth event. Their attention to detail, efficiency, and teamwork were impressive, and they worked tirelessly to help us create a seamless experience for all participants.
In addition, I’d like to especially commend them for their role in the Presentation of Colors. Their precision and honor during this important moment were deeply moving and added a level of dignity to the event that was felt by everyone in attendance. The cadets’ professionalism and respect for the occasion were evident, and they truly elevated the ceremony.
Throughout the day, the cadets exhibited an incredible level of discipline, respect, and commitment. Their positive attitudes, willingness to help wherever needed, and leadership were noticed by everyone. It was clear that they not only understand the importance of service but also take pride in their contributions to the community.
Please know that the entire Walk to End Alzheimer’s team and the families we serve are incredibly grateful for the cadets’ support. Their presence made a real difference, and I know their contributions helped ensure the event was a success. You and your staff should be incredibly proud of these young men—they exemplified the values of honor, integrity, and service to others.
Thank you once again for partnering with us and for fostering such an outstanding group of cadets. We would be thrilled to work with them again in the future."
