Eight Cadets who will read scriptures at the 2025 Evensong were introduced to the Corps of Cadets during noon mess on Friday, September 26.  Each of the Cadets chosen to read at Evensong are members of the Senior Class.  The Cadets selected are Aaden Bado, Todbileg Boldbaatar, Mateo Eaton, Deonte Kerns, Clayton Reich, Luis Rey, Robert Shepard, and John Trippe.  Each Cadet will read a selected portion of scripture which tells the Christmas story.

The Cadets chosen to serve as Evensong readers auditioned before MMA Instructors Daniele DeTienne, Melba Lackey, and George Davison.  To be considered for an audition, a Cadet had to be recommended by an instructor and to have a record of good performance.

As each Cadet Reader was introduced by Ms. Lackey, he was presented with a Certificate commemorating his selection.  Ms. Lackey noted that it is a significant honor to be chosen as a Cadet Reader for the Evensong service.

Evensong began in December 1941 after the Pearl Harbor attack and has become a cherished MMA Christmas tradition. Faculty members Eugene Lamm and Chester Nunn helped to create the celebration which combines traditional and familiar Christmas music and scripture.  The Cadet Readers will be joined by the MMA Cadet Choir, a Choir of faculty members and friends, along with the MMA Band.

The 84th Annual Evensong will be held on December 13, 2025, beginning at 6:00 PM at the Mexico United Methodist Church at 122 East Promenade.  Alumni, Parents, and the public are invited to attend.
