On September 11, a day of remembrance for our nation, Missouri Military Academy was honored to present the colors at the University of Missouri for the home opener of the University of Missouri women’s volleyball season.

Cadet Drill Commander Tru Jones, a high school senior from Lee’s Summit, Mo., led the MMA Color Guard. Cadets Daniel Bravo, a senior from Dublin, Calif., and Tegan Compton, a junior from Myrtle Beach, S.C., served as rifle guards. Cadet Xavier Perdigon, a junior from Wallingford, Pa., carried the American flag, while Cadet Leonardo Morales, a junior from Monterrey, Mexico, carried the Missouri state flag.

On this solemn day, the cadets’ presentation carried special meaning as we remembered the lives lost during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and honored the courage and sacrifice of first responders, military members and their families.

The cadets demonstrated outstanding discipline, precision and military bearing. Their performance reflected the proud traditions of Missouri Military Academy, the Official Military Academy of the State of Missouri, and brought great credit to themselves, the MMA Corps of Cadets and the entire MMA family.
