Colonels Track Athletes Set New MMA Records in State Championship Competition

Two Colonels track cadet-athletes earned the right to compete at the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) state track and field championship for Class 2, District 3, on May 20 and 21, 2022, in Jefferson City, Missouri. Both cadets broke MMA records while competing at state.

Competing in the 110-meter hurdles, Cadet Gabriel Canonico, an 11th grader from Falls City, Nebraska, broke the record with his time of 17.54 and finished in the top 15 in state.

Cadet Bryson Powell, an 11th grader from Brighton, Colorado, competed in the 1600m run. He ran a personal best of 4:33 which broke his own MMA record. He was only two spots outside being all-state, finishing 10th overall.

Congratulations to these cadets for their outstanding performance!
