Missouri Military Academy Cadets Present at Merit Badge University

Three Missouri Military Academy (MMA) cadets had the opportunity to share insights into their home countries at the 2024 Merit Badge University, hosted by the Great Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Over 800 Scouts from across the state attended this annual event, aimed at helping Scouts achieve their merit badge goals.

Cadets Juan Handal (Honduras), Seydina Issa Diop (Senegal) and Batbold Buyankhishig (Mongolia) each spoke at the American Cultures Merit Badge session, presenting on their respective countries. They covered key topics including food, music, dance, clothing, government, natural resources and geography, helping the Scouts fulfill their requirements for the badge.

The American Cultures Merit Badge educates Scouts about the diverse cultures that make up America and encourages a deeper understanding of how these cultures have contributed to the nation's development.

MMA's Troop 1889 is led by Eagle Scout and faculty member Eric Evertson and his wife, Nicole Evertson.
