Dear MMA families,
We are proud to have our cadet leaders on campus this week for Cadre Leadership Camp, where they are refining their leadership skills and preparing to lead the corps. To all of our other new and returning families, please note our policy regarding what cadets may have in their rooms and our technology policy. These policies are designed to help protect your cadet by establishing and enforcing boundaries and maintaining structure and a clean environment.
Maintaining Clean Rooms
Regarding what may be brought from home for cadet rooms, please review the enrollment supplement for the list of recommended and approved items. Developing self-discipline and maintaining order through a clean room is taught at MMA, and as such, we will limit what is brought from home to what is listed in the linked document.
Please note that cadets may not bring additional items that are not listed in this supplement. Please do not send your cadet with the following:
- Personal clothing
- Foam mattresses
- Excessive snacks, drinks, and food items
- Exercise supplements
- Electronics or miscellaneous appliances
- Table lamps, string lights, etc.
- Small refrigerators
- Heating/cooking appliances
- Personal computer
Unauthorized items brought from home will be shipped home at the guardian’s expense.
For those items your cadet is bringing from home, please click here to review the Clothing Marking Procedure. Marking your cadet's clothing and personal items appropriately will ensure that all items, when laundered, are returned to the appropriate cadet.
Our technology policy is designed to help protect cadets with healthy boundaries. You can click here to read the full policy, but you will need to sign the official version via DocuSign with your enrollment contract.
Please take a moment to review MMA's cell phone policy. Note that the use of cellular “hot-spots” is forbidden in order to prevent cadet internet access outside of MMA’s approved networks and approved internet usage schedule.
Access to the internet is restricted to this schedule:
- Sunday through Thursday, the network will be turned off from 10:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the next day
- On Friday and Saturday, the network will be turned off from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next day
If you provide a cell phone with a data plan to your cadet, MMA recommends adding parental controls to help monitor/restrict usage. We ask that you turn off internet access following our WiFi schedule listed previously. Various providers offer this feature. “Verizon Smart Family, ” “AT&T Secure Family App,” and “T-Mobile FamilyMode” are examples.
We need your support to help your cadet with appropriate technology usage.
If you have any last-minute questions regarding our policies, please contact me at email@example.com or 573-581-1776, ext. 521. I look forward to seeing you and your cadet soon.
