Dear MMA families,
We are a little more than a week away from commencement for the Class of 2022 and Final Formation. As the end of the spring semester approaches, I want to share a few updates and reminders, including a reminder to encourage your cadet to finish the semester strong and to start setting goals for the summer and for next semester.
2022-23 Academic Year
I want to again thank our families who were able to attend Spring Family Weekend and who supported Maroon & Gold. Your generosity has a positive impact upon our cadets’ MMA experience, and it was incredible to see the outpouring of love and support for our cadets and our mission. The more than $210,000 raised will directly support our cadet programs.
The support shown through Maroon & Gold, the high number of students enrolled in our summer academic academy and summer camps, and our increased number of applications for fall enrollment have our faculty and staff very excited as we plan for the fall semester.
For those of you who have completed your re-enrollment, thank you. If you have not yet completed your enrollment bundle through DocuSign for the 2022-23 academic year, please do so now to help us best prepare for the upcoming year. Please contact the enrollment management office with any questions.
Leadership Cadre Camp
We have an impressive group of cadets designated for senior leadership positions next fall, and I am very pleased to see so many families have responded to the commandant’s invitation for their cadets to attend Cadre Leadership Camp this summer. This camp is a key learning experience for our cadet leaders and an important opportunity for those cadets competing to fill junior leadership positions that have not yet been designated.
As a reminder, to finalize their registration for Cadre Leadership Camp, you must complete their re-enrollment for the 2022-23 academic year, including deposit payment.
Please click here to read about the leadership designations announced at the Mother's Day Review last weekend for the 2022-23 academic year. Visit Flickr for more photos from review.
Summer Opportunities
I want to make sure you are aware that our summer Leadership Camp for ages 12 to 17 is full (no more registrations are being accepted), but that we do still have some availability for our Summer Academy that includes academic and leadership training (for grades 7-12) and our Confidence Camp (for ages 8 to 11). If you would like your cadet to attend Summer Academy, please apply soon to guarantee his spot. If you know a young man who would benefit from our summer programming, please encourage them to apply or to contact Admissions for information.
Local Hospital Update
I share with you last month that services at Audrain Community Hospital had been suspended. The hospital is reopening under the leadership of Platinum Team Management, a hospital and medical management company.
We are pleased that Platinum has already opened the hospital’s walk-in clinic with the ability to do labs, x-rays, and stitches. We continue to follow our established healthcare protocol for your cadets through routine care at our on-site Ekern Health Center and, if any emergency services are needed, through University Hospital in Columbia.
Advice to Help Your Cadet Continue His Growth Over the Summer
Lastly, as your partner in your cadet’s growth and education, we are reminding cadets that our standards and expectations apply over the summer months. We expect them to remember and apply what they have learned at MMA. Our experience is that, as cadets build upon their MMA experience, we typically see strides in maturity and positive changes over the summer months. Please encourage your cadet to exercise, read, and continue his positive transformation.
I look forward to seeing our families on campus for the final good-bye to our seniors on May 21. We have much to celebrate after such a wonderful year (watch for a list of our top 10 stories of the year to be shared soon). If you have any questions about any of the final events of the semester, please visit our website or contact your cadet’s CLA.
Sincerely,
Richard V. Geraci
