The physical fitness officer is the principal staff officer who assists the commandant of cadets, cadet battalion commander, and cadet command sergeant major in establishing, implementing, and documenting a corps physical fitness program for the school year. He maintains height, weight and strength test data for cadets; plans, coordinates, schedules, conducts and documents physical strength tests throughout the school year; and works with the command sergeant major to establish remedial physical fitness and swim program for cadets who fail to meet minimum fitness standards, as well as provide a weekly, monthly and quarterly physical fitness and swim remediation calendar for the corps to follow.
Overall, he will maintain the appearance, discipline, efficiency, training, and conduct of all corps fitness activities. At the end of the year, he will hold a competition to see who has the fastest timed runs on the back campus obstacle run and USMC obstacle run. Fastest times will be posted on signage at the start of each course for observers to see.
