The battalion executive officer serves as second-in-the command of the corps, keeping the battalion commander informed on all general logistical and administrative matters in the battalion or duties assigned by the commandant of cadets. He advises the battalion commander in formulating policy and plans for the corps; recommending billet assignments, promotions, demotions, and awards; and scheduling and tracking all corps activities and duty assignments.

As a leader, he is responsible for directing, coordinating, and supervising battalion staff; posting, conduct, and effectiveness of the OD, barracks chiefs, and floor watches; and coordinating with company executive officers to facilitate mission accomplishment.
