Safety and Security

At Missouri Military Academy (MMA), the safety, security and well-being of every cadet is a top priority. From campus infrastructure to daily routines and supervision protocols, every element of the MMA experience is designed to foster a secure and structured environment where young men can grow, learn and thrive.
A Safe and Structured Environment
Located on 288 acres in rural Missouri, MMA offers a peaceful setting far removed from the risks typically associated with large urban areas. This secure location provides an ideal environment for focused learning, outdoor exploration and personal development.
MMA's structured daily schedule, combined with a strong emphasis on accountability and discipline, reinforces a culture of responsibility and safety. Cadets are supported by dedicated faculty, staff, coaches and leadership advisors who help guide their personal and academic growth.
Close Supervision
Cadets are closely supervised by responsible adults. Supervision is carefully structured across all aspects of cadet life:
- Company Leadership Advisors (CLAs) oversee cadets in the barracks and during off-class hours.
- Faculty members supervise during academic instruction.
- Coaches and athletic staff provide leadership during physical training and competitions.
- Health clinic personnel are on call at all times, with established procedures for addressing medical needs and emergencies.
Proactive Education on Safety and Responsibility
At MMA, cadets are taught the importance of positive behavior, conflict resolution and making safe, healthy choices. They learn to respect themselves, their property and their MMA brothers through a curriculum that emphasizes self-discipline, personal responsibility and leadership.
Comprehensive Campus Security
MMA continually invests in campus safety infrastructure to ensure a secure environment for all cadets and staff. Security measures include:
- Controlled access to buildings via keycard entry for cadets, faculty, and staff.
- 258 high-resolution surveillance cameras monitoring all common areas, academic buildings, barracks hallways and the campus perimeter.
- Well-lit facilities and grounds to enhance visibility and promote secure movement throughout campus.
- Real-time communication enabled through radios assigned to CLAs, faculty, staff and coaches for immediate response coordination.
MMA’s Command Center, monitored by the commandant’s staff, allows for real-time surveillance and campus-wide monitoring. Leadership works in close collaboration with local law enforcement to ensure rapid response and continued alignment with best practices in school safety.

A Legacy of Security and Stability
Since 1889, Missouri Military Academy has provided a disciplined, secure and nurturing environment where young men are empowered to reach their full potential. The Academy’s long-standing reputation for excellence reflects a deep-rooted commitment to the safety and success of every cadet.
