Tennis

Our tennis team gets stronger each and every year. Not even the Missouri winters can stop the Fighting Colonels from serving their best. Our campus boasts one of the only indoor tennis facilities in the entire state. With four regulation size tennis courts for both singles and doubles, our tennis players improve their game year-round.

Brad Smith, Head Tennis Coach

New to the MMA coaching team, Coach Smith joins the Fighting Colonels from Mexico High School, where he coached as the head tennis coach from 2015-19. During that time, he advanced 1 state qualifier, 3 sectional finalists, 1 district champion and multiple district medalists.

According to Smith, he plans to lead cadets to victory at the district championship and beyond, all while using the sport to teach cadets valuable life lessons, such as respect, modesty and self-discipline.

“My coaching philosophy is to teach young people to become well respected young men through friendly – but fierce – competition; to be humble in victory and shameless in defeat; and to discover a new respect for individual competition,” said Smith. “I want the students to find joy through playing tennis, too.”

Tom Allen, Assistant Tennis Coach

Coach Allen brings over 20 years of coaching experience to MMA’s tennis team. Per his coaching philosophy – which encourages a winning-mindset – Allen plans to help cadets take their tennis skills to the next level while helping them grow into confident young men of character and grit.

“My goal is to help cadets develop an attitude of success and confidence that will prepare them for life after MMA,” said Allen. “This includes mental toughness and a no-quit attitude.”
