Missouri Military Academy's Fusileer Drill Team is first in the nation. 

The Fusileers have been a staple of MMA’s excellence in military leadership, structure, discipline and class. Cadets compete in different classifications in each of the following divisions: Armed Regulation Drill, Unarmed Regulation Drill, Armed Color Guard, Unarmed Color Guard, Armed Exhibition, and Unarmed Exhibition.

At the 2023 Rocky Mountain Drill Classic National Championship, the MMA’s Fusileer Drill Team won the national championship, placing first in the Overall Armed Drill. The MMA Fusileers were also awarded first place in the Armed Color Guard and Armed Exhibition.

Competing in the Association of Military Colleges & Schools of the United States (AMCSUS) 2019, 2020 and 2021 Annual Drill Competitions, the MMA Fusileer Drill Team won first place against military schools such as Marine Military Academy, Randolph-Macon Academy, Army and Navy Academy, Riverside Military Academy, Fork Union Military Academy, Fishburne Military School, St. John’s Northwestern, Valley Forge Academy, and more.

Missouri Military Academy Fusileers Drill Team Coach Chris Scarlet

1SG Christopher Scarlet, Fusileer Drill Coach 

With over 23 years of experience in the U.S. Army, Scarlet brings a wealth of leadership, discipline and passion to his role as Fusileer Drill Coach. Whether in Fusileer practice or instructing JROTC Army cadets, Scarlet is committed to shaping the next generation of leaders.

“I work to train young men to lead their lives with purpose, whatever his purpose may be,” Scarlett says. “I am honored with the task of assisting cadets in becoming the best version of themselves, so they may succeed as honorable men throughout the rest of their lives.”

Scarlet’s coaching style blends military precision with mentorship, and he plays a pivotal role in instilling core values such as loyalty, duty, respect, honor, integrity and courage in cadets. Scarlett holds previous experience as an assistant coach to the Fusileers, where he helped lead cadets to victory as national championship winners for overall armed drill at the 2023 Rocky Mountain Drill Classic National Championship.
