Cross Country

MMA Cross Country middle school runners compete in a full schedule of competitions with our varsity and junior varsity athletes. Our athletes prepare for meets by running each and every day during season, which goes hand-in-hand with the larger MMA mission for all cadets to be physically fit and active.

Ryan Nowlin, Head Cross Country Coach

Dr. Ryan Nowlin brings nearly 30 years of coaching experience to the MMA cross country team. According to Nowlin, he doesn’t just work to help cadets become better runners, but rather to become better people, too.

“Cadets in cross country become a part of my family. I teach them about grit and determination at every practice. If we are running six miles today, we are going to complete the distance regardless of our time. This teaches us to never give up,” said Nowlin. “I want to challenge my cadets to expect failure and success at each practice and competition. They don't know how good they can become at something until they push themselves.”
