MMA 2024 Soccer Semi-Finals

The MMA Fighting Colonels varsity soccer team is built on a foundation of brotherhood and camaraderie, fostering strong team bonds that translate into success on the field. This unity has propelled the team to set high standards for future seasons, culminating in a second-place finish in the Class 1 2024 MSHSAA state soccer championship. 

This season, the Fighting Colonels' talent and teamwork were recognized with four players earning All-State honors from the Missouri High School Soccer Coaches Association. Among them, Cadet Fernando Puebla was named Offensive Player of the Year. Coach Elliot Goodwin was celebrated as Private School Coach of the Year, and Coach Rodrigo Padilla was named Assistant Coach of the Year.

Rodrigo Padilla '15, Head Soccer Coach

Rodrigo Padilla, a former MMA goalkeeper, was part of the team that won the district championship in 2015. Nearly a decade later, he has helped guide MMA’s soccer team to another district title in 2024. Padilla was named Assistant Coach of the Year by the Missouri High School Soccer Coaches Association.

Padilla’s passion for the game began at a young age and eventually led him to compete at the collegiate level with Missouri Valley College.

“Soccer isn’t just a game; it’s a universal language that brings people together, no matter where you’re from,” he said.

 In addition to his coaching role, Padilla serves as an admissions counselor at MMA.
