Originally from central Missouri, Blayne Murphy comes to MMA after spending nearly ten years teaching and coaching at the public school and collegiate levels.
Murphy graduated from School of the Osage High School in Lake Ozark, Missouri. He began his post-secondary education and athletic career at Longview Community College in Lee’s Summit on a baseball scholarship, majoring in general studies. While attending school, Murphy met his wife, Kendra. He then transferred to Williams Baptist College in Northeast Arkansas to finish his undergraduate work and collegiate playing career, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education.
After spending three years teaching and coaching at the high school level, Murphy pursued a dream of coaching at the collegiate level and was hired as the Associate Head Baseball Coach at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. He also served as an adjunct instructor in their Sports Management Department.
Murphy and his wife moved back to Missouri when he accepted a role as the Executive Assistant Baseball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Hannibal LaGrange University. He would also receive his Master’s Degree in Education from Hannibal LaGrange in 2015.
After the birth of their first child, Kensley, in 2014, Murphy decided to get back into teaching and has been doing so ever since. He is currently finishing up his Educational Specialist's Degree from Arkansas State University and is certified in Science, English, Social Studies, and Math for grades 5-9 as well as Physical Education, Health & Safety for grades PreK-12. Murphy is also a certified Master Instructor for the Mental Management Strategies Curriculum developed and implemented by former Olympic Gold Medalist, and former member of the Army Marksmanship Unit, Lanny Bassham. In his free time Mr. Murphy enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf.
