Missouri Military Academy proudly brings "Jazz on the Lake" back to the MMA campus for the third year. Performing on the front campus, the MMA Jazz Band will play a number of familiar jazz standards beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 19.
This free concert is open to the public and features the MMA Jazz Band and other musical performances by MMA's Corps of Cadets. Due to construction, this year's concert will be held in front of Barnard Hall and limited bleacher seating will be available. Guests are encouraged to arrive at 5:00 p.m. and to bring blankets and lawn chairs to spread out across MMA's spacious front lawn. Parking is free along 204 North Grand Street or in MMA's Gymtorium parking lot on Pollock Street.
The MMA music department is headed by retired Royal Marines bandmaster WO2 Freddie Lomas and features a marching band, concert band, jazz band, middle school band, chorus, and various solo musicians who take private lessons as part of their studies at Missouri Military Academy.
MMA music instructor, Rob McGrath, also a former member of Her Majesty's Royal Marine Band, leads the choral program and jazz band. Prior to joining the MMA faculty in 2016, he was a professional jazz musician and teacher in the U.K. McGrath is also a member of the Columbia Jazz Orchestra.
In addition to the free seating, tables of eight are available for sponsorship for $60 per table. Proceeds from sponsored tables go directly to support the MMA music department. For reserved table sponsorships, please contact Kevin Quinn by phone at (573) 581-1776 ext. 230 or via email at email@example.com.
