MMA Equestrian Program
The Missouri Military Academy's Horseback program has been a vibrant part of the campus activities for several years. Cadets learn much more than just how to ride a horse on the Academy's more than 300 acre stretch of woods and land referred to as "Back Campus." They learn how to approach a horse from all four sides, how to feed and care for the horse. Cadets also learn the basics of horsemanship including saddling, mounting, walking, trotting, cantering, and galloping with their horse.
Cadets, for the most part, ride the same horse everyday so they very quickly develop a special build with their horse. These horses offered for cadet use in the horseback program are lifelong members of the MMA family and most of them have worked with 50 cadets or more over their lifetime.
Feel free to contact the Academy if you are interested in becoming a member of the horseback program here at MMA. There is a small seasonal fee that helps to keep the best quality of animal and proper safety equipment available for all riders.
