The Order of St. George is awarded to those who have distinguished themselves through acts of superior and selfless service, courage, accomplishment, professional performance, meritorious service, philanthropy, honor, character and/or outstanding commitment and service to Missouri Military Academy.
MMA President Charles “Tony” McGeorge presented the Order of St. George medal to Riddle during Homecoming festivities on the academy’s Mexico, Missouri campus. Providing private, college preparatory education for boys and young men in grades 7 through postgraduate, MMA is the only military boarding school in Missouri and one of few such select schools in the United States.
“Senator Riddle has shown tremendous support of MMA and our cadets,” said President McGeorge. “Her dedication to MMA and to education in Missouri makes a difference in the lives of young people and our collective future. I am honored to recognize her for her service with MMA’s Order of St. George.”
Riddle currently represents District 10 (Audrain, Callaway, Lincoln, Monroe, Montgomery, and Warren) in the Missouri State Senate, and she served in the House of Representatives from 2008 to 2014. Prior to her public service, she taught and coached in the South Callaway School District for 28 years.
One of the most prominent patron saints of the military, St. George is highly celebrated in both the Western and Eastern Christian Churches. Immortalized in the legend of St. George and the Dragon, St. George is believed to have been a Roman soldier born in what is now modern-day Turkey in around 280 AD and died around 303.
Celebrating 130 years of educating young men, MMA features 360˚ Education, designed around the needs of boys during their formative years, tapping into what motivates them—positive reinforcement, structure, consistent physical and mental challenge, loyalty and a team mentality. MMA inspires boys from around the world in grades 7 through post-graduate to reach their potential by fostering academic excellence, character development and leadership training in a safe, structured environment.
