The Eagle Talon Award for Philanthropy

Awarded to an Alum who attended MMA for at least one full year and whose giving within the fiscal year qualifies them for a Donor Award of Colonels Club ($1,200) or higher and who has also given to the academy not only their treasure, but their time (dedication of personal time on or off campus to promote initiatives as set forth by MMA) and talent (devotion of special skills that significantly impacts MMA, cadets and alumni.)

MMA Alumni Association Paul Gillette Alumnus of the Year Award

Awarded to successful alum who inspires and sets an outstanding example for current cadets, who has shown success in life, spirit of community and support of his alma mater.

Legacy Cadet Recognition

Awarded to current cadets who are sons, step-sons, brothers, cousins, grandsons, step-grandsons, or nephews of MMA alum.

Clifton B. Cates "I Will Hold" Award

Awarded to an alumnus or non-alumnus and given in recognition of exceptional leadership demonstrated through determination, steadfastness and perseverance through times of challenge. Award was created in tribute to MMA's 125th anniversary and General Clifton B. Cates Class of 1910, 19th Commandant of the USMC 1948-51. 

Class of 1955 Alumni Homecoming Awards

A: Class with the highest percentage of registered Homecoming attendance.

P: Class with the highest philanthropic achievement during Homecoming

Order of St. George

MMA's second highest and most prestigious personal decoration made to those outside the MMA organization and the highest employee award made by MMA. Awarded to recognize those who distinguished themselves through superior acts of selfless service, courage, accomplishment, professional performance, meritorious service, philanthropy, honor or character.  

Order of St. George, Knight Commander

MMA's most prestigious personal decoration. Awarded to recognize those who distinguish themselves through superior acts of selfless service, courage, accomplishment, professional performance, meritorious service, philanthropy, honor, character, and outstanding commitment and service to MMA.

Robert H. Weaver Memorial Award

Awarded to persons who best exemplifies unconditional effort on behalf of the Academy and Cops of Cadets, towards the goals established by the Parents-Alumni Committee, with unceasing drive and commitment to persevere throughout the year in bettering life at the Academy for the Corps of Cadets.  

The Alumni Plaque  

For the graduating senior who is voted most likely to succeed by his classmates.

Alumni Hall of Fame: Business, Entrepreneurship & Leadership  

Awarded to an alumnus who is viewed by peers in his field as a subject matter expert with a proven track record in his chosen career of business, entrepreneurship or leadership is recognized for his significant accomplishments, is a visionary, and is also recognized as a coach, mentor and developer for those who follow in his footsteps.

Alumni Hall of Fame: Arts & Sciences

Awarded to an alumnus who is viewed by his peers in his field as a subject matter expert with a proven track record in his chosen career of arts or sciences, is recognized for his significant accomplishments, is a visionary, and is also recognized as a coach, mentor and developer for those who follow in his footsteps.

Alumni Hall of Fame: Athletics

Awarded to an alumnus for his excellence in post high school athletics, athletic performance, competition and sportsmanship and who is viewed by peers in his field as having a proven track record in his chosen career of athletics, is recognized for his significant accomplishments, is a visionary, and is also recognized as a coach, mentor and developer for those who follow in his footsteps. Priority will be given to individuals or teams who won a state championship team, placed in a state championship tournament event multiple times, qualified for an individual or team state tournament or considered “All-State” by either a vote of Missouri Sportswriters or qualifying for the state tournament multiple times, and/or who were selected as “All-Conference, District, Sectional, or a Regional” in multiple years. Alumni who are coaches with similar success will also be given priority for these awards. Contact the alumni office for additional qualifying information.

Alumni Hall of Fame: Community & Government Service     

Awarded to an alumnus with a proven track record in his chosen career of Community or Government Service such as nonprofit, community volunteer work, civilian government and service work, and who is recognized for his significant accomplishments, is a visionary, and is also recognized as a coach, mentor and developer for those who follow in his footsteps.

Alumni Hall of Fame: Distinguished Military Service

Awarded to an alumnus who has achieved the rank of Flag / General Officer or awarded a Purple Heart Medal or higher by one of the U.S. Armed Services (or alums home nation's equivalent) and who has received an honorable discharge.


 

General Eligibility Criteria for Alumni Awards

1) Alumni must have completed one full year at Missouri Military Academy.

2) All nominations for alumni awards must be approved by the Alumni Association Board of Directors majority vote.

3) Nominations will include all supporting documentation. (i.e. Military DD214,  professional journal articles, internal company recognition - photo copy of award, link to websites, etc.)

4) Nominees will submit to a confidential criminal background check managed by the MMA Business Office prior to being awarded.

5) The Alumni Association Board of Directors can request a criteria waiver from the President of MMA if special circumstances need to be considered for an award.

6) The deadline for all nomination submissions is January 1, each year.

General Eligibility Criteria for Athletic Hall of Fame Awards

1st priority) State championship won by an individual or team or coaching a team with similar result. Selected as “State Coach of the Year” in any given sport. 

2nd priority) Placing in a state championship tournament event multiple times in which an individual earned a medal or coaching said team/individuals. 

3rd priority) Qualifying for an individual or team state tournament or being considered “All-State” by either a vote of Missouri Sportswriters or qualifying for the state tournament multiple times. 

4th priority) Being selected as “All-Conference, District, Sectional, or a Regional” in multiple years. 

5th priority) Coaches with several years of experience in consecutive years. 

6th priority) Coaches with a .750 winning percentage or higher throughout their MMA coaching career. 

The whole core of what MMA stands for is still there, even after the ups and downs of 130 years. I believe in what they are doing.
