The Colonels and Warriors went head-to-head for the first two and one-half quarters.
“We came out for this game a lot more fired up and focused than the previous week, which is really good,” said MMA coach CPT Brian Maher.
“We got the opening kickoff and went right down the field and scored a touchdown. We did the same thing on our second offensive drive of the game as well.”
Senior Derek Kantorski, '11, scored on a six-yard run at 9:11 and a 2-yard sprint at 3:56 of the first frame, and sophomore Santiago Bou, '13, toed both PATs for a 14-7 MMA edge.
MMA went into the half down 21-14.
“At times throughout the game we played some really good football, which I was very pleased about,” said CPT Maher. “After halftime, we came out on defense and forced a turnover. Then our offense took the ball and put it in the endzone to make it 21-21.”
“We are getting better and better every week, which is very important throughout a long season,” said CPT Maher.
Kantorski paced the offense with 20 rushes for 278 yards and three TDS. Junior Trent Wisnant, '12, scored on a 65-yard catch for the other MMA score.
Senior Jose Allard, '11, freshman Joshua Pearson, '14, and junior Travis Skinner, '12, joined Kantorski as defensive leaders. Clayton Workman, '12, Grayson Jordane, '12, and Reese King, '12, were strong on the offensive line.
The Colonels travel to Perryville St. Vincent for a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday night.
