Members of the Class of 2010 begin a new tradition. On the final day of regular classes, they are allowed to wear a shirt from the university they will attend in the fall. weekend May 28-29, MMA will proudly graduate 46 seniors from around the world, who have earned more than $3 million in college scholarships.
College acceptances include the
Air Force Academy, Penn State University, Texas A&M, Purdue University, Embry-Riddle University, University of Southern California, University of California-Davis and University of Illinois, among others.
"This year's class has improved on the past successes of achieving academic and ROTC scholarships, while adding a new level of success in athletic scholarships," says
LTC Tim Scherrer, Director of College Placement.
The class' first athletic signing was a football scholarship to Peru State College for
Robert Carrillo of Chicago, IL. Shortly after the corps returned from Christmas furlough,
Josh Armstrong of Lower Norton, Victoria, Australia signed his letter of intent to punt for SW Oklahoma State University. Just a couple of weeks ago,
Gabriel Villasenor of Chula Vista, CA signed his letter to play soccer for Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO. Joining Villasenor at Culver-Stockton this fall is
Eduardo Benites of Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Our wrestling captain and fourth place winner in the state tournament
James Schwank of Godfrey, IL signed on to wrestle at Lindenwood University.
With only a few weeks left in this academic year, there are still more scholarships on the horizon.
