Attorney Jeff Kays graduated from MMA in 1984. Jeff is one of the last cadets to attend MMA for nine years- from grades 4 through 12. As a senior he was Battalion Adjutant, Editor of the
Eagle, the school newspaper, received the Winston Churchill Memorial Award (for persuasive speaking, of course), and lettered on the wrestling and rifle teams.
After MMA, Jeff enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Jeff continued his college education while in the Air Force, and received his Bachelor’s degree from Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri before moving to Kansas City to attend law school at University of Missouri – Kansas City.
Jeff has practiced with a few different law firms in Columbia and Jefferson City. In 2008 he started his own practice in Ashland, Missouri, practicing law primarily in the areas of Family Law, Criminal Defense and Personal Injury and Worker’s Compensation.
Jeff says, “I enjoy the freedom and the challenges that come with being a solo practitioner. I can run the office my way and oversee all aspects of the business, from marketing to accounting and, of course, the practice of law itself.”
Jeff and his wife Laura have 3 children and live in nearby Hartsburg, Missouri. Jeff enjoys spending time with his family, following the St. Louis Cardinals, fishing and hunting. He is currently a member of the MMA Alumni Board of Directors.
“Lately, I have really enjoyed getting back in touch with my MMA classmates on Facebook,” Jeff says. “I am reminded how much I learned about discipline and leadership, as well as how to act like a gentleman, from my classmates and teachers at MMA.”
