"The New ERA"   - Enrichment and Recovery Academy

June 24 – July 21, 2012
On the campus of Missouri Military Academy

There are plenty of things for your child to do with his or her free time this summer. Make it worthwhile at The New ERA, MMA’s comprehensive summer program that incorporates academics and activity.

About The New ERA

The New ERA is a structured summer program that gives your son or daughter a chance to make up a lost course or gain extra credits in a short period of time, without missing out on the fun of summer.

The New ERA offers a boarding program for boys and day options for boys and girls in grades 7 through 12. With courses that address recovery needs and enrichment goals, The New ERA is a chance to repair poor past performances, expand scope of knowledge and sharpen study skills. A diverse schedule of activities will ensure an active, enjoyable experience for all involved.

Location

The program takes place on the campus of Missouri Military Academy, a 123-year old military boarding school in central Missouri. Our campus boasts a new state of the art academic building, air conditioned dorms, a gym, indoor swimming pool, stables, paintball course and an outdoor challenge obstacle course.

Summer Biology Academics

All courses are taught by experienced faculty, many of whom are faculty from Missouri Military Academy. High school students can find enrichment courses in Algebra I, Geometry, Biology, Spanish, Chemistry, and ESL (English as a Second Language). With over six hours of instruction per class day, students earn a full year’s credit in just four weeks when taking an enrichment course.

High school level recovery courses are designed for students needing additional instruction and remediation in difficult courses - Algebra I & II, Geometry, English, Social Studies, Biology and Spanish.

Middle school students with above average ability and performance can take high school level math courses. Integrated Studies and Integrated Math courses will help middle school students who want to do their best in the classroom.

Activities

The New ERA students enjoy an active program of athletics and activities beyond the classroom

Afternoons are devoted to a variety of team and individual activities such as basketball, flag football, swimming, tennis, soccer, horseback riding and weightlifting.

After the evening study hall, there is free time to unwind with a movie or hang out in the Canteen. Weekends provide opportunities for special outings, trips to amusement and water parks, paintball, horseback riding and rappelling.

With the Fourth of July right in the middle of the session, we will take a trip to watch fireworks and celebrate Independence Day.

Sports and activities are optional for students in the day program and accompany an additional fee.
