Missouri Military Academy’s financial aid program was established to assist families seeking a quality education for their boys. Approximately one-half of the US cadets receive grants that help offset varying amounts of the expense of attendance. For many families, a combination of financial aid grants and loans can help you help your son.

Student loan information is available through private lenders.  Contact the Admissions Office for providers’ contact information.

MMA offers the following opportunities for financial assistance.

Financial Aid Grants
All financial aid grants are need-based awards.  Need is determined according to income that is available to families for educational purposes. Need-based grants do not have to be repaid.  These grants are available for boys of both proven records of achievement and to those who have the potential to be good cadets who improve the quality of the Corps of Cadets.

MMA does not offer merit scholarships.  In compliance with Missouri State High School Activities Association (MAHSAA) guidelines, MMA does not offer athletic or activity scholarships.

Lester Gehm,’59 Loan Program
The Lester Gehm, MMA Class of 1959, Loan Program was established by his parents in appreciation for the benefits he received during his years of attendance at Missouri Military Academy. The Gehm Loans, which are available to US high school students returning to the Academy for at least their second year, are need-based and interest-free. Details are available through the MMA Financial Aid Office at 573.581.1776.

Application for Admission and Application for Financial Aid are two independent requests, and require separate forms.  You may apply for admission and financial aid concurrently, but financial aid will not be awarded until an acceptance to MMA has been offered.  Please note that requests for financial assistance will not affect decisions of the Admissions Committee.

To apply for financial assistance at MMA:

  1. Apply for admission or re-enrollment with the MMA Admissions Office.
  2. Submit the Financial Aid Application to the MMA Financial Aid Office.
  3. Submit a copy of the first two pages of your 2008 and 2009 IRS 1040 Tax Forms to the MMA Financial Aid Office.
  4. MMA’s Financial Aid Committee determines a family’s contribution beginning with calculations derived from the information you provide to the Financial Aid Office on the Family Financial Information form. These calculations consider gross taxable income, assets, liabilities, family size and number of students enrolled in tuition-charging schools. After an allowance or basic necessities and taxes, the remaining funds are considered discretionary income, potentially available for education.
  5. Applicants must be accepted for attendance at MMA for the 2010-2011 school year prior to the announcement of a financial aid award.
  6. Early application for financial aid will improve the opportunity for an award. Applicants may apply for admission to MMA and financial aid simultaneously. Incomplete application files will not be considered. Funds for MMA’s financial aid program vary from year to year. When all funds have been expended, the program will be closed for the remainder of the school year.
  7. Financial Aid award recipients are expected to maintain satisfactory disciplinary and academic records. Unsatisfactory performance may be grounds for repeal of an award.
