June 27 – July 23, 2010
On the campus of Missouri Military Academy There are plenty of things for your child to do with his or her free time this summer. Make it worthwhile at The New ERA, MMA’s comprehensive summer program that incorporates academics and activity.
The New ERA is a structured, non-military program that offers boarding options for boys and day options for boys and girls in grades 7 through 12. With courses that address recovery needs and enrichment goals, The New ERA is a chance to repair poor past performances, expand scope of knowledge and sharpen study skills. A diverse schedule of activities will ensure an active, fun experience for all involved.
The program takes place on the campus of Missouri Military Academy, a 121-year old military boarding school in central Missouri. Our campus boasts a new state of the art academic building, air conditioned dorms, a gym, indoor swimming pool, stables and an outdoor challenge obstacle course.
All courses are taught by experienced faculty from Missouri Military Academy and other local schools. High school students can find enrichment courses in Algebra I & II, Geometry, Chemistry and ESL (English as a Second Language). With over six hours of instruction per class day, students earn a full year’s credit in just four weeks when taking an enrichment course.
High school level recovery courses are designed for students needing additional instruction and remediation in difficult courses - Algebra, Geometry, English, Social Studies, and Biology.
Middle school students with above average ability and performance can take high school level math courses. Integrated Studies and Integrated Math courses will help middle school students who are struggling in school.
The New ERA isn’t all about sitting in a classroom – afternoons and weekends are devoted to a variety of team and individual activities such as basketball, flag football, swimming, tennis, soccer, horseback riding and weightlifting. Weekends provide special outings, trips to amusement and water parks, horseback riding, canoeing, camping, hiking and rappelling.
Sports and activities are optional for students in the day program and accompany an additional fee.
