Missouri Military Academy is proud to announce that it has partnered with Dell Inc. for this year’s 8
th Grade 1:1 Netbook Pilot Program. This announcement may also have benefits for all cadets, so please read on.
The Missouri Military Academy One-to-One netbook pilot program
will be implemented in the 8th grade class at the start of the 2010-2011 school year. A One-to-One program provides a netbook for every student and teacher, allowing teachers to enhance their lesson plans to teach students about new technology and software. All classroom work, homework and research will be done with the netbook.
One-to-One programs are becoming more important to secondary schools as technology becomes an integral part of higher education and the professional world. This program will lead the way to a new era of classroom learning at MMA.
"We are excited to introduce this program at MMA," said Matt Vore, MMA Director of Educational Technology. "One-to-One programs are the best way to enhance in-class education and thoroughly train students how to use a variety of software applications they'll use in college and beyond."
For 8 th Grade Students:
8 th graders will be able to purchase or lease a Dell Latitude 2110 netbook for the 2010-2011 school year. The Dell Latitude 2110 includes a Touch Screen, 2GB of Ram and a 3 Year Warranty/Accidental Protection agreement. Complete specs can be found below.
8 th graders may purchase this computer for $550 (Plus Sales Tax), or they have the option to lease for $200, with an option to purchase at the end of the year.

Students who already own a recent laptop/netbook that meets the following requirements, they can use that machine in leiu of the school endorsed computer above:

Operating System : Windows XP Professional or Windows 7 Professional / Ultimate (No Home, Home Premium or Starter Editions)

For all MMA cadets:
Although not required, Missouri Military Academy has also decided to make this netbook available for purchase to all other students on campus. (The lease option is NOT available.) You get the great price of $550 (Plus Tax). Missouri Military Academy is also going to become certified to do all warranty repairs on Dell Inc computers. Dell Inc computers under warranty will be fixed on campus for no additional cost.
“This is a great option for our cadets, and with a three year warranty/accidental protection, it offers parents a very affordable computer that is virtually guaranteed to work for the next three years with little additional expense,” according to Matthew Vore, Director of Educational Technology.
