All of our Seniors are accepted into college. Occasionally, graduates choose military or other careers immediately after graduation from the Academy.
The full-time Director of College Placement keeps abreast of current academic trends in colleges and universities. The director's personal guidance to both student and parent is an invaluable tool in what can be an overwhelming process.
The MMA College Placement Program begins with the introduction of freshmen and sophomores to the concept and importance of a college education during class seminars. College searches and the application process are individualized during the junior and senior years under the direct supervision of the Director of College Placement. Seniors are also assisted in seeking college scholarships. The class of 2009 earned $2.1 million in merit scholarships. Additional financial aid was awarded to those in need.
MMA is a test site for the PSAT, PLAN, SAT, ACT and assists with arranging TOEFL exams, which is convenient for the cadets and their families. The MMA high school incorporates ACT and SAT preparation as part of the course outline for Mathematics and English classes. This constant reinforcement affords students the opportunity to be better equipped for the ACT and SAT when the cadets take the national examinations.
College and university representatives recruit on the MMA campus, and the Junior and Senior classes will attend college fairs, giving cadets a first-hand look at large and small, public and private institutions. This exposure gives them some ideas about which type of school will best meet their needs after graduation from MMA.
Some of the colleges and universities where the MMA Class of 2009 were accepted include the New York University, Boston College, Norwich University, Purdue University, Virginia Military Institute, The Citadel, University of California-Berkeley, University of Missouri-Columbia, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Tecnologico de Monterrey, St. Louis University, Indiana University, University of Arizona, and University of Washington. MMA also received 7 ROTC scholarships and one Service Academy Prep scholarship.
Missouri Military Academy, as an Honor JROTC Unit With Distinction, as designated by the Department of the Army, has the privilege of nominating cadets to the US Military Academy at West Point, the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, the US Air Force Academy and the US Coast Guard Academy. The Director of College Placement, the Senior Army Instructor and the President of MMA aid qualified cadets who are seeking nominations to the US Service Academies.
