 PresidentAdministration 573.581.1776 Robert.Flanagan@MissouriMilitaryAcademy.orgEducationUniversity of Michigan, 1971, Bachelor of Business Administration Troy University, 1996, Master of Public Administration BiographyMajor General Flanagan's last billet was at Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point and served as Commander, Marine Corps Air Bases, Eastern Area, and as Commanding General of Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point. Major General Flanagan was commissioned a Marine Second Lieutenant in May of 1971 after graduation from the University of Michigan. Following his commission he was designated a Naval Aviator in May of 1972. In June he joined HML-267 at Camp Pendleton, California where he qualified in the UH-1E. In February of 1974, he was assigned to the First Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan. Completing his first Marine Aircraft Wing tour in March of 1975, he was ordered to duty as a Flight Instructor with HT-8 at NAS Whiting Field, Milton, Florida. In August of 1978, Major General Flanagan was selected to attend Amphibious Warfare School at Quantico, Virginia and upon graduation was selected for duty with Marine Helicopter Squadron One at Quantico, Virginia. In August of 1983, Major General Flanagan was selected to attend the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, MCB Quantico. Upon completion of the Command and Staff, he was ordered to the Third Marine Division for duty as the Air Officer for the Fourth Marine Regiment located at Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan. Returning from Okinawa in 1985, Major General Flanagan was ordered to Marine Aircraft Group 39, MCAS Camp Pendleton, California where he served as the Executive Officer of HMT-303. He was further reassigned as the Marine Aircraft Group 39 Personnel Officer in July of 1986. Major General Flanagan assumed command of Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 169 in February of 1987. Following his tour as the commanding officer, he reported to MCCDC Quantico, Virginia for assignment to the Marine Corps Warfighting Center. Major General Flanagan was selected to attend the National War College in 1989 and was subsequently ordered to United States Central Command, MacDill AFB, Tampa, Florida. Major General Flanagan took command of Marine Aircraft Group 24 in July of 1993, and transitioned the Group to the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Aviation Support Element, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii when MAG-24 deactivated in October of 1994. In June of 1995, Major General Flanagan was ordered to Headquarters, United States Marine Corps for duty as the Head, Aviation Monitor. After one year, he transferred to the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Manpower and Reserve Affairs to be the Executive Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff, M&RA. In 1997 Major General Flanagan was assigned as the Director, Personnel Management Division, Manpower and Reserve Affairs, Headquarters, Marine Corps. In June of 1999 he was transferred to II MEF where he became Deputy Commanding General. In November of 1999 he was designated Commanding General 2d Marine Expeditionary Brigade. In July of 2001 Major General Flanagan was transferred to Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point to serve as Commander, Marine Corps Air Bases, Eastern Area, and as Commanding General of Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point. Major General Flanagan began his civilian career as the Chief Advisory Officer at Admiral Farragut Academy in St. Petersburg and became President of Missouri Military Academy in 2007. Major General Flanagan's personal decorations include: Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Navy and Marine Commendation Medal, and the Presidential Service Badge. Between 1983 and 1997 I served as Director of Admissions and the Director of External Affairs for the Academy. In late 1997 I left the Academy to pursue other interests. I returned to Missouri Military Academy in June 2009 and resumed the Director of Admissions position. Over the years I have coached football, basketball, track, cross country, and baseball. BiographyMarijo has been the visual arts instructor for all cadets at The Missouri Military Academy since September of 2002, having taught previously in public schools in Missouri and Wyoming for more than 15 years. After a one-year stint of teaching Whole Language K-e for Denver Public Schools and working for five years for The Colorado Institute of Art, she served as Video Manager and then Book Manager for the Hastings Entertainment Corporation, returning to Missouri in 2000 in that position. Marijo is currently a member of the National Art Education Association and the Missouri Art Education Association, as well as a member of the local Mexico Arts Council. She is co-captain of the MMA Relay for Life team and actively promotes fundraising and educational programs for Autism. Any time not spent at MMA is used to create artwork (primarily portraiture), needlework, gardening, and reading "anything she can lay her hands on." While in graduate school, Brandon was a Case Manager at Preferred Family Healthcare, working with individuals with mental health disorders. He has also obtained 100 hours in counseling youth and adolescents in schools, six months of substitute teaching in Southern Illinois, and 50 hours of counseling teens at Preferred Family Healthcare.
